At the beginning of 2022, the telecommunications industry in Russia was discussing different issues including record market growth, problems associated with market consolidation in the regions, the endlessly debated package of Yarovaya laws, a halt in the growth of pay TV, and the issues of transferring broadband connected users to IPTV including bundles as one of the possible points of growth and ARPU increase.
The discussion of current issues went on as usual, industry participants prepared to travel to international events, until in March 2022, the Russian telecom faced more serious challenge.
Indeed, considering that the share of domestic equipment is 9%, sanctions against Russia can become critical. However, since 2020, the country has been preparing a strategy for the development of telecommunications equipment, and it is time to move on to its implementation. At the Svyaz 2022 forum in April, it was noted that, as part of measures to support the telecom industry, there are already the first results of three years of work.
In the face of inevitable changes in the market structure, demand for high-quality software and equipment, new growth points are to be created. It has become increasingly important to meet and discuss, make decisions and create new ecosystems in these conditions.
To discuss these issues and not only the Telebreeze team visited the annual
CROS conference in Sochi at the end of May 2022. CROS is organized annually by NAG, however, due to COVID, the event has not been held for the past two years. For telecom operators, integrators, industry and business representatives, telecommunications specialists, this is one of the most important professional events of the year.
This year, CROS brought together more than 900 participants, including vendors of communication equipment and software.
For Telebreeze team, the topics covering the segmentation of devices for watching video in households, topics dedicated to B2B marketing, technological risks associated with the opportunities, costs of IPTV service operating, import substitution issues and the rules of survival in the "era of change" were the most interesting.
